Progress

The weekend is upon us, and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with lots of stitching time! First, I do have a finish, but cannot show it because it is for an exchange--Tranquil Stitches Valentine Treat Bag exchange. I stitched the little piece that fits inside the treat bag this week, filled the little bag with Valentine treats, and popped in the mail yesterday. I will show it once it has been received and opened. After stitching the Valentine piece, I made a little progress last night on my January ornament--LHN's Under the Tree.
I forgot to mention last time that not only am I in a "stitch an ornament a month in 2012" SAL with some ladies at Tranquil Stitches, but I also joined 3 other blogging ladies in a "stitch an ornament a month in 2012" SAL--Meari, Pam, and Shelley. I figure I will need all the encouragement I can get! This weekend, I plan to spend my stitching time starting and working on one of the Love Quilts squares that I am signed up for. I guess that's it for this time. Thank you for visiting and for the kind comments!!

A New Start and Progress

Not a lot of stitching going on last week. The twins headed back to college on Saturday afternoon, and after having them home for 3 weeks, I am adjusting back to empty nest status, so I will probably spend more of my free time stitching this week. I did get a start on my ornament for January.
It is LHN Under the Tree. I am stitching it on 30 WDW Straw linen using the DMC floss called for on the chart. I also gave my long time UFO now WIP(Seasonal Scenes Summer) a little attention. Here is a photo of where I was the last time I stitched on it.
And, here it is after some stitching this week.
I am stitching this on 14ct cream Aida using the called for DMC floss. I considered stitching this on evenweave or linen, but the Fall and Spring ones were stitched on the cream Aida. Way back when I stitched them, I did not know that I could stitch on anything but Aida. I bought the fabric for all 4 pieces when I bought the chart, and I want to frame and hang all 4 seasons together. So, I decided to stick with the Aida. I don't have a problem stitching on Aida(all the Love Quilts squares have to be stitched on Aida), but when I come to the 1/4 stitches I may think otherwise. That's it for this week. Thank you for visiting and the kind comments!

A New Year--Week 1

The holidays are over, decorations are put away, house is back to normal, and I will miss the holidays until next year. I have enjoyed having DH home the past 2 weeks and getting to see my kids and adorable grandson more than usual, but a part of me is also ready for normal--minus this cold that visited me for the beginning of the new year!!

On the stitching front, 2011 was not too productive, but new year--new stitching goals!!

Let's see, for 2012, I would like to stitch a Christmas ornament a month(and finish them or convince my DD who sews and crafts beautifully that she would like to finish them for her dear mother) for my 2012 Christmas tree.

I would like to start and finish LHN Peach Tree Cottage that my younger DD has asked me to stitch for her(same DD who sews and crafts beautifully--maybe a deal can be struck).

I would like to stitch a few more Love Quilts squares than I did last year. I finished one New Year's Eve(more about that below), and signed up to stitch a square for a little boy who has requested a military theme for his quilt.

And, last--I have brought out from the depths of my stitching closet the piece that I bring out every year for a week or two. Seasonal Scenes Summer. As I have mentioned before, I stitched the Fall and Spring ones back in 2003 and 2004 when I returned to cross stitch after a long absence from stitching. Having twins and 2 other children plus homeschooling said children had put the brakes on my stitching for quite a few years(1991-2003). So Seasonal Scenes Summer is in my stitching basket once again--and I WILL FINISH IT THIS YEAR. I will then have Seasonal Scenes Winter to stitch and hopefully finish in less than 7 or 8 years. : )

Add in some exchanges at Tranquil Stitches and some pieces that might call my name, and that should keep me busy stitching.

I also have some blogging goals for the new year. I LOVE reading stitching blogs. I don't read a lot of blogs, but the ones I do read, I enjoy and look forward to their updates.

If I read a blog, I am going to do my best to leave a comment. I have never been a good commenter, and I would like to do better.

I also am going to try to update my little blog a little more often. I am going to say once a week...but I am not holding myself to that. : )

And, the finish for Love Quilts isThe little boy requested beach scenes with bright colors for his quilt.

Thank you for visiting!!
