A New Year--Week 1

The holidays are over, decorations are put away, house is back to normal, and I will miss the holidays until next year. I have enjoyed having DH home the past 2 weeks and getting to see my kids and adorable grandson more than usual, but a part of me is also ready for normal--minus this cold that visited me for the beginning of the new year!!

On the stitching front, 2011 was not too productive, but new year--new stitching goals!!

Let's see, for 2012, I would like to stitch a Christmas ornament a month(and finish them or convince my DD who sews and crafts beautifully that she would like to finish them for her dear mother) for my 2012 Christmas tree.

I would like to start and finish LHN Peach Tree Cottage that my younger DD has asked me to stitch for her(same DD who sews and crafts beautifully--maybe a deal can be struck).

I would like to stitch a few more Love Quilts squares than I did last year. I finished one New Year's Eve(more about that below), and signed up to stitch a square for a little boy who has requested a military theme for his quilt.

And, last--I have brought out from the depths of my stitching closet the piece that I bring out every year for a week or two. Seasonal Scenes Summer. As I have mentioned before, I stitched the Fall and Spring ones back in 2003 and 2004 when I returned to cross stitch after a long absence from stitching. Having twins and 2 other children plus homeschooling said children had put the brakes on my stitching for quite a few years(1991-2003). So Seasonal Scenes Summer is in my stitching basket once again--and I WILL FINISH IT THIS YEAR. I will then have Seasonal Scenes Winter to stitch and hopefully finish in less than 7 or 8 years. : )

Add in some exchanges at Tranquil Stitches and some pieces that might call my name, and that should keep me busy stitching.

I also have some blogging goals for the new year. I LOVE reading stitching blogs. I don't read a lot of blogs, but the ones I do read, I enjoy and look forward to their updates.

If I read a blog, I am going to do my best to leave a comment. I have never been a good commenter, and I would like to do better.

I also am going to try to update my little blog a little more often. I am going to say once a week...but I am not holding myself to that. : )

And, the finish for Love Quilts isThe little boy requested beach scenes with bright colors for his quilt.

Thank you for visiting!!

  10. Happy new year! I love your 2012 plans--sounds like fun! I'm going to try like mad to stick to an ornament a month, too, if not more. I say that every year and it doesn't work out but I am going to dry my darndest. Good luck getting your daughter to do the finishing! I need to get my girls into sewing so that I can try the same thing. ;)

Nice job on the Love Quilts block!

About leaving comments, I try very hard to make sure I leave a comment if I read the person's blog, unless I am hard pressed to find something to say. Just a way to say that I've been there, etc. You never know who you'll meet that way! :)
